POSITION SUMMARY: The Shelter Services Manager helps to facilitate the overall sheltering programming for the agency by developing and maintaining hotel partnerships, and supporting staff and families as it relates to their temporary hotel stays. The Shelter Services Manager serves on the Program Leadership Team of Safe Haven Family Shelter. The Shelter Services Manager is the main contact and point person for issues related to families in temporary shelter.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Helps to develop policies and procedures for sheltering locations ensuring a safe and inviting sheltering experience for residents and staff.
- Promptly responds to client issues in hotel, assisting hotel staff, case managers, and other supervisors in bringing issues to resolution.
- Develop and maintain relationships with hotel partners for the purpose of sheltering clients.
- Coordinates hotel move-ins and exits.
- Assist with billing and invoices for hotel stays.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive onboarding program for Family Advocates ensuring they have the training necessary for their role.
- Meets bi-weekly with Family Advocates for supervision.
- Serve as the point person and main contact for hotel partners.
- Maintains accurate data regarding hotel and shelter availability, overseeing move ins and move outs.
- Maintain a strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees.
- Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, supervisory sessions, and accept the responsibility for aiding the development of positive team relationships.
- Adhere to agency policy, procedures and the professional code of ethics.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in the social services or related field preferred
- Three year’s experience in homelessness and/or sheltering services.
- Knowledge and understanding of working in a Trauma Informed Care Environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sheltering services and best practices.
- Ability to build and maintain external partner relationships.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work Environment: Office setting. Must be able to sit / stand for 8 hours.
- Walking, bending, light lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
- Must be able to travel to community service providers and partner hotels.
